This friendly football town is situated along the Black Warrior River and Lake Lurleen State Park, with exciting Civil War era history dating back to its founding in 1871. The Antebellum homes like the Battle-Friedman House and Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion mark the area’s history, as well as the state’s largest exhibit of fossils and minerals at The Alabama Museum of Natural History. Tuscaloosa takes southern hospitality to heart and offers an abundance of delicious southern eateries, locally-owned shops, year-round family-friendly community events, and sprawling greenspace with hiking trails.
