Tom is a practicing hospitalist, board-certified in Internal Medicine, and an Emory University School of Medicine graduate. He was one of the first hospitalist physicians hired by ICH in 2000. His keen clinical and operational insight helps the company stay focused on quality care, compliance, performance improvement, and provider engagement.
Dr. Tom Smith joined IN Compass Health when the company was founded in 2000 as the Medical Director of the hospitalist program at the company’s first hospital client in Alpharetta, GA. Over the years, he has increased his clinical and operational responsibilities; he currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer, responsible for directing all clinical guidance, compliance, quality management, and performance improvement efforts. Tom received his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, a member of the Society of Hospitalist Medicine (SHM), and a Senior Fellow in Hospitalist Medicine (SFHM).
