Welcome to "Titletown, USA"
Tuscaloosa is a city in western Alabama, home to the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide. This friendly football town is situated along the Black Warrior River and Lake Lurleen State Park, with exciting Civil War era history dating back to its founding in 1871. The Antebellum homes like the Battle-Friedman House and Jemison-Van de Graaff Mansion mark the area’s history, as well as the state’s largest exhibit of fossils and minerals at The Alabama Museum of Natural History. Tuscaloosa takes southern hospitality to heart and offers an abundance of delicious southern eateries, locally-owned shops, year-round family-friendly community events, and sprawling greenspace with hiking trails.
The DCH Health System
For over 100 years, the DCH Health System has continually evolved to offer advanced caring to West Alabama and includes DCH Regional Medical Center, Northport Medical Center, and Fayette Medical Center. The 583-bed DCH Regional Medical Center is the cornerstone of the DCH system and offers a variety of specialty units and advanced services, including cancer, cardiology, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, and the region’s advanced trauma center. Northport Medical Center is a 204-bed community hospital that offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. The facility also operates important specialty services, including the DCH Rehabilitation Pavilion and North Harbor Pavilion for mental health. Fayette Medical Center, through a lease agreement with the DCH Health System, is a 61-bed rural hospital that offers the residents of Fayette County inpatient care, along with sophisticated diagnostic equipment, surgical techniques and specialty clinics.
DCH Health plays a key role in medical student education by partnering with the University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences and housing the UAB School of Medicine Family Medical Residency Program and Hospitalist Fellowship programs.
